PROJECT VALUE

Switchboard upgrades were required to remove asbestos from several local workplaces. Generally, older Australian switchboards built or imported before 2004, pose the risk along with their surroundings, of having a chance of containing asbestos, whilst most switchboards installed before 1990, are very likely to contain asbestos.*

This project is a textbook demonstration of asbestos in switchboards.

Kennedys Group deployed their Asbestos and Electrical divisions to work closely with the power supplier to remove asbestos from a mains electrical switchboard. This involved shutting power down to the entire site. The power authority supplied all equipment to cut power to the site from the street, allowing Kennedys Group to remove the mains switchboard from the wall and remove all asbestos-lined walls.

Once completed, a clearance from an independent hygienist was obtained and the walls were relined. The switchboard was then reinstated to its original position and an Electrical inspector was engaged to inspect before the power authority could re-energize the premises.

This project was time-critical to our client and required in-depth planning with external resources. As always, the Kennedys Group teams were available after hours to complete these projects to ensure there were no disruptions to our client.
